Our Services - A Comprehensive Guide

Fillings

We offer a range of filling materials to suit your budget and aesthetic preferences.

Amalgam (silver) fillings are still a viable option. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), “Dental amalgam is the most thoroughly researched and tested restorative material among all those in use. It is durable, easy to use, highly resistant to wear, and relatively affordable compared to other materials. For these reasons, it remains a valued treatment choice for both dentists and patients.”

Composite fillings, made from a blend of glass or quartz fillers in resin, come in various shades to closely match your natural tooth color. These fillings require minimal drilling for tooth preparation and are durable and long-lasting, especially for small to medium restorations.

Indirect restorations are custom-made fillings crafted from materials such as gold alloys, base metals, porcelain, or processed resins. These require multiple visits, during which the dentist will prepare the tooth, take a mold, and create the restoration based on that mold. Indirect restorations typically come at a higher cost due to the more involved process.

Veneers

Veneers are an excellent solution for closing gaps in your teeth or enhancing the appearance of stained, misshapen, or crooked teeth. These thin, custom-made shells are crafted from tooth- colored materials and are designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. Created from a mold taken by your dentist, veneers are applied with minimal preparation to your teeth. They’re an ideal way to achieve the beautiful smile you’ve always desired!

Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure that applies a tooth-colored resin material to the tooth and hardens it with a special light to “bond” the material to the tooth to improve its appearance. There is usually very minimal tooth preparation required for bonding. Dental bonding can be used to repair decayed teeth as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings, repair chipped or cracked teeth, improve the appearance of discolored teeth, close spaces between teeth, or change the shape and form of teeth.

Whitening

Tooth bleaching is an excellent option for achieving a whiter, brighter smile. It can be used to address stained or discolored teeth or simply to enhance your overall smile. Tooth bleaching is a safe and reliable procedure, suitable for most patients. Our office is happy to assess your options and recommend the most effective treatment tailored to your unique goals and dental history.

Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges

Use your existing teeth as a foundation to replace what’s missing.

Dental bridges are an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth. They use your natural teeth as anchors to create a “bridge” across the gap where your tooth is missing. Bridges are crafted from materials like gold, metal alloys, or porcelain to ensure strength and durability.

The process begins with preparing the abutment teeth, which are the natural teeth that will support the bridge. These teeth are reshaped to provide a secure base for the bridge. Afterward, a mold of the area is taken and sent to a dental lab, where it’s used to craft a custom-made bridge that will fit properly and resemble your natural teeth as closely as possible. The bridge consists of two crowns placed on the abutment teeth, with a pontic in the middle to replace the missing tooth.

While the lab works on your bridge, a temporary one will be fitted to protect the anchor teeth and to maintain an aesthetic appearance. Once the bridge is ready, you’ll return for a follow-up appointment, during which the bridge will be securely bonded to the abutments with adhesive.

It may take a few days to adjust to your new bridge, but it should eventually feel as natural as your own teeth. For the first few days, stick to soft foods; after that, you’ll be able to eat anything without difficulty.

If you’re missing a tooth, it’s important to consider replacing it. In addition to the cosmetic impact, missing teeth can lead to changes in your mouth and jaw structure and make eating or speaking more challenging.

 Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures, including partial dentures, are not exclusively for seniors; many younger individuals also benefit from them. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey indicates a decline in adult tooth loss since the 1960s. Nonetheless, numerous Americans, both young and old, rely on dentures to enhance their smiles, speech, and ability to chew comfortably.

At Grace Dental, we provide various tooth replacement options, including full and partial dentures, to patients in Clarence and the surrounding areas. If you’re considering dentures, contact us.

At Grace Dental, you will have a personalized and professional cleaning experience with that extra care.

At our office, we prioritize delivering exceptional service and ensuring the highest quality dental care.

During your hygiene appointment, we review and update your medical history, medication list, and allergies. X-rays for cavity checking (Bitewing) are updated annually, Panoramic x-ray (done every few years) is used to do a general assessment of both upper and lower jaws, teeth, and to evaluate if there is any lesion related to the teeth and/or jaws. The gum health is also assessed. A treatment plan can be established based on your needs. Referrals to specialists may be required for specific treatment procedures.

Afterwards, your dental hygienist will provide a professional cleaning for you to remove plaque and tartar with hand scalers and/ or ultrasonic (machine-based) scalers. This is followed by polishing to remove external stains (sometimes, teeth can have internal stains that cannot be removed with cleanings).

Other Preventive Services:

Fluoride: Professional in-office application of Fluoride can be recommended for patients with high or moderate risk for decay and cavities as a part of a professional plan to decrease such a risk. Fluoride can be applied every 3 or 6 months, depending on your level of risk for cavities and decay.

Sealants: They are an effective way to seal the deep grooves in your teeth to make them less susceptible to decay. They are widely applied to the adult back teeth of children and young adults.
